The best 5 free mobile racing games to play in 2021

I know Everyone has the urge to play games, even if they're not really into it. There are a lot of genres in this, but Racing is the one that feels universal to all. Today, let's look at the best 5 free racing games for mobile.

Even though these games are grouped as one single category, there are loads of different racing games out there: Casual racing, street racing, Sim racing, Open world racing, and more! These are just a few to name.

However, we'll try to cover every single category of racing games today. Enough of talking already, let's get started.

Note: This listicle doesn't follow any order, it's just random. For reference, use the ratings provided.

Real Racing 3 - Available for Android and iOS

This is probably the most famous mobile racing game. Developed by EA back in 2013, this is the latest game in the real racing series. With high quality graphics and some what consistent updates, this is a game that definitely needs to be tried by everyone.

This game has got 2 graphics update so far: 2016 and 2019. The game originally didn't look so appealing and pleasing like now. But it is fair to say that it looked better at that time.

Even though the graphics look so good. There are some serious flaws in the game that definitely needs to be covered.

Even though the base game is just under a 50 megabytes, you are forced to download the game files after the download which is about 300 Megabytes. You are required to download game files for every new place and level.

Totally you'll be required to download about 2 Gigabytes of game files. Ridiculous!

This is not a common issue for all unlike the next few issues though. If you're fine with the huge game files, then it's no problem.

The Storyline is okay of sorts. Nothing too good, nothing too bad. The service system for cars is extremely annoying. After a bunch of races, you are forced to service your car. While the service is free, you should pay (in-game bucks luckily) for the waiting times. It is very annoying.

You also have an earnings limit of 2,50,000 MS for each day which restricts your earnings a lot. Not quite a good start.

You also don't have the options to choose from low to high graphics, and its not very optimized for mid-range devices too.

Just a typical EA game and nothing much. It still has room for improvement though.

Horizon Chase - Available for Android and iOS

This is probably the most retro feeling game in this list. Featuring a bright and simple and fun game environment, this is definitely the most arcade racing game I've ever played.

The colours are vibrant and the graphics are simple and low poly, the physics are really arcade-y and there's lot!

The gameplay is super fun and less irritable. It is a comparatively light-weight game unlike other games on this list like Real Racing 3 or Asphalt 9.

Apart from having a more formal race and win idea, it also has power-ups which really does help speedup the gameplay. However, it can be improved. The amount of cars is really less, considering the fact that today's games have a lot more to offer.

Overall, it is a good game to try it out if you're into racing. If you're an arcade lover, then you should try it. By the way, it's offline too.

    Rebel Racing

This is one of those games with a decent concept, excellent graphics and poor execution. The graphics are life like and it is relatively less optimized and hence more difficult to run on a mobile device.

On a new device, the game in reduced graphics quality can run like a breeze. But, the only good thing in this game is the graphics.

The storyline is decent. This is more or less drag racing genre, or to be more specific it felt like CSR and CSR 2 but with some good graphics. The fuel system is ridiculing me. You'll get a maximum of 8 matches in a full tank.

The time required for filling the whole tank is about an hour or so. And you'll have to pay in gold to fill the tank. However, there's an option to refill a single fuel capacity for one ad. But, you should wait for the next 30 mins to watch the next ad to refill your fuel capacity.

Doesn't go right for Rebel racing now. You won't be able to win cars through tournaments and each car is really expensive. Eventually, you'l have to end up doing in-game purchases, which is not really good.

If you want to have an eye-pleasing version of CSR 2, Rebel racing shines there. The UI and HUD is really clean and minimal and the animations are so smooth. There are a bunch of customisation but nothing so revolutionary.

The final part: You don't even have maps to check where you are going. It's so random. This game annoyed me a bit. Definitely, needs to improve to provide a good user experience.

Asphalt 9 Legends - For Android and iOS

The latest game on the revolutionary Asphalt series, this game is really amazing. The perfect mix of realistic graphics and arcade physics, this game is probably my favourite in this list. But, let's not be biased here.

There's nothing in general that seems annoying. Real contrast to Rebel racing, this has a solid storyline and amazing graphics. Perfect optimization for most of the devices and it feels smooth.

However, the game is huge. So huge that the game feels overwhelming. It has a lot of cars and options, fuel system doesn't take a toll on me, less aggressive monetization overall and more!

There are a lot of challenges and the multiplayer gameplay is smooth.

Overall, I love it. The calibration is a bit off though, it doesn't feel right if you turn off touch-drive driving mode.

What I really love about it is that you can get cars without having to pay money. That's right, no need to pay for cars! As you play and win games, you'll get blueprints for which you can get a car.

The ads are annoying though. It comes up every single time you finish a game. The balance is quite not right. You get the same ads all time.

The loading times suck too. Though I have tested these games with both low and mid tier phones, the loading times are relatively higher than its counterparts'. Definitely need to step up in these aspects.

Other than this, the game is quite good.

The upgrades aren't so expensive, and all that. However, the game size is about 2 GBs. But, it is awesome and I love it. A must try for racing game enthusiasts.

    Asphalt Nitro - For Android

This byte sized game is truly fantastic for the size it comes. Even though it didn't have the best graphics or the best storyline, It certainly has performed well over my expectations.

The experience was smooth and clean, it certainly didn't take a toll on my device's performance.

Less ads, no fuel system, and really fun gameplay for a game of this size. The game is good with a pretty hefty amount of cars. Nothing much to say here, just go ahead if you want an offline and small racing game.

But as time goes, the gameplay can feel a little boring though. But nothing annoying though.

The controls and calibration is really good, almost perfect. Tracks are somewhat diverse, sometimes it may feel repetitive, but it's fine though.

CSR 2 For Android and iOS

Probably the best looking game for mobile. If you want the best mobile drag racer, then I can easily recommend CSR 2. With robust looking graphics that defies the stereotypes of mobile graphics and a solid storyline to aid the game, this is easily one of the best mobile racers out there.

Technically, it's just a gear changing game for starters, but boy, it can't get more fun! Basically, the game features an underdog to pro storyline that is really interesting as it gets.

Nothing much to say, some ads in the middle, nothing annoying though, definitely a solid game.

A huge step up in almost everything from CSR1. The Control graphics are sometimes inconsistent looking though, but nothing serious. The perfect blend of Drag racing and console graphics.

The only downside is that this kind of graphics could be applied on an open world racing game, but I can understand the appeal. It takes way more resources and compute power to even render such a huge environment.

None the less, looks good. A must try for everyone.
