While everyone was excited and pumped about the new iPad with M1 chip, I
looked at the older iPad models, and here's what I've found.
Sure thing the new iPad Pro is a power-packed monster backed by the M1 chip.
But, the older 8th generation iPad, the only iPad, is the budget tablet
packed with performance and usability. Let me make things more clear.
The 8th iPad features 3 gigabytes of RAM, a solid and amazing-looking
10.2-inch retina display, a bigger battery, and more. Although it comes with
those big fat top bezels and bottom chin, I think it's worth the price and
performance.
Why iPad?
There are a lot of reasons why the iPad is the best budget tablet you can
buy right now. Each product comes with its disadvantages alongside its
advantages. We'll list that too.
Performance
Now, the performance might not seem very good when to check its spec on
paper. 3 gigabytes of RAM isn't even a thing in 2021. But, with optimized
apps for its A12 Bionic chip and the iPad OS, the device feels faster than
other tablets at this price segment.
Many internet users have played graphic-intensive games at the maximum
settings, and guess what the iPad can handle it easily.
Battery
Battery life is a plus point in iPads, be it any generation. iPads are known
for their battery life and this is a good thing for these huge tablets from
Apple.
Display
The 10.2-inch retina display is packed with vibrant colors and up to 500
nits of pixels. As I told you the bezels are huge and the design is due for
a refresh, but it's worth the price. The bezels can help you hold the tablet
firm. That's a plus point.
Scribble
The new scribble feature is great and comes in handy when you're using the
iPad with Apple pencil. Just type whatever you want in text boxes using
Apple Pencil, in your handwriting, and iPad OS will do the conversion for
you.
Scribbling on text can clear the text for you, circling the text can select
it for you and there's more! How cool is that?
Support for Apple Pencil
Not mentioning this feature would have been a sin! Support for 1st
generation Apple Pencil is a great feature especially if you are a student
who keeps taking notes or you're an artist trying digital art through
procreate.
Compatible with Smart Keyboard
Get a cheap smart keyboard from Amazon, plug it in, set it up and you'd end
up recreating the more expensive iPad pro with a Magic keyboard. Nice!
The cheapest way to enter the Apple ecosystem
This is one of the cost-effective, cheapest ways to enter the Apple
ecosystem. This is the most cost-effective product of Apple. It is not the
cheapest, you have the AirPods pro at 20,000 but they aren't cost-effective.
Spending 20,000 on a pair of earphones is just pointless.
Apple products are always referred to as expensive and premium. Sure, it's
true. You'll get industry leading build quality at each of its products.
Every product has been made with the finest attention and details.
And that's why Apple has products are looked upon as a status symbol, a
sign of superiority.
Final Verdict
The iPad isn't the only tablet for this price. There are plenty of other
options, like the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 lite, Samsung Galaxy tab A7, which
features similar specs, or some times even better. But specs isn't
everything, optimization can play a crucial role if you don't have enough
specs.
I would recommend you to do your own homework before purchasing any
device. The iPad seems like a great deal to me and I am happy to recommend
it to you.
That's everything I've got and I'll catch you up in the next one.
